About

Here is a little background

Hey πŸ‘‹πŸΌ I am a Software / Machine Learning Engineer currently based in the United Kingdom. I did my undergraduate in Mechatronic Engineering in South Africa, and later completed my Masters degree in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom. I absolutely love all things to do with AI, robots and code. I also am a keen track cyclist, having competed both nationally and internationally for South Africa πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦

Projects

Project 1: Masters Dissertation

My official Masters dissertation topic was the β€œNon-Invasive Determination of the physical properties of objects using machine learned interpolation of the observation of robot arm manipulations.” In other words, this dissertation involved using machine learning and computer vision, together with robots to determine the physical properties of objects. The aim of this field of research is to bridge the gap between how humans and robots interact with their environment.

Project 2: Portfolio Website

Yes, I developed the website you are currently looking at! I wanted to learn more about Next JS, Typescript, Framer Motion and Tailwind and so I used my portfolio website as an opportunity to do this. The website was originally inspired by a YouTube video by Sonny Sangha, and over time has morphed into something I am quite proud of. The portfolio uses Sanity as backend, so that it can update the information without rebuilding the application.

Project 3: F1 Fantasy Analysis

F1 Fantasy Analysis was an application that I developed to try and help me do better in a Formula 1 fantasy league. To put it nicely I was quite horrible and so I wanted to find out what combination of drivers was 'theoretically' the best based on some statistics. I therefore put a python script together which could do just that. After using it for a few races I found that it did help me with my team choice quite a bit and so I thought that others could possibly benefit from it too, and so I put a website together using Flask, HTML and CSS.

Project 4: Coffee Loyalty Application

The Lucky Dice loyalty application is a cross platform mobile phone application designed in Flutter that keeps track of a users total as well as consecutive coffee purchases. This app was developed for a friend and owner of the Lucky Dice Coffee Company, based in Cape Town, South Africa. The main goal of the project was to build a cross platform application that retains customers by rewarding them for consecutive coffee purchases (effectively adding a time constraint to a traditional loyalty system).
